I opened my WSJ to read that Bill Gates is going to publicly call for a new kind of capitalism? He is doing this from Davos, Switzerland where many of the world’s most powerful folks are now meeting. From Rob Guth at the WSJ, “In a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the software tycoon plans to call for a “creative capitalism” that uses market forces to address poor-country needs that he feels are being ignored.”
I have never been anti-Gates or Microsoft (though I switched back to Mac about three years ago) and thought that his decision to step down and take on a new challenge showed true grit and entrepreneurial spirit. This move by his is clearly in the social entrepreneurship model. My feeling is that the biggest problem he is going to have is foreign governments and international NGOs.
