This blog has discussed the extensive opportunities available to green entrepreneurs in and around the campus. According the the National Dialogue on Entrepreneurship, there is now an Eco-Patents Commons site where entrepreneurs (and others) can visit to see sustainable patents etc.. that are available. From the NDE email:
An interesting new initiative from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development is seeking to generate and disseminate new ideas for sustainable development. The Eco-Patent Commons is an on-line database of existing patents that corporations and individuals have made available, without royalties, to anyone with an interest in using the new technologies in ways that benefit the environment. The website contains a searchable database of eco-friendly patents that are available for public use.
Check it out: Eco-Patent Commons program. While there are a lot of corporate users involved, perhaps some entrepreneurs can find treasure in some of the things they overlook. Business history is littered with inventors who couldn’t innovate (make the invention or discovery useful).
