UW-Madison/SAGE Offer Green Prizes

SAGE at UW Madison is awarding $50,000 in the UW Climate Leadership Challenge. Writer John Content of the Journal Sentinel,

“UW-Madison is one of the top schools nationally in the number of graduates who join the Peace Corps and also in the number of alumni who become CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies,” said Tracey Holloway, director of SAGE, in an announcement today. “With so many idealistic and enterprising students, this is the perfect place for such an ambitious competition.”

This competition is modeled on the X-Prize and supports the notion of using competition to find solutions to our most pressing needs.

It makes use of the unique eco-systems of Madison to find support great ideas and people. While more and more students may be participating in higher ed in different ways (at night, part-time, extension, online, etc.), the traditional campus, as exhibited in places such as Madison, Ann Arbor, and Austin, cannot by rivaled for its entrepreneurial eco-system.
